Accomplishments: Tom Merrick brings to his full-time mediation practice a wealth and breadth of recent advocacy experience. Since 1980, Mr. Merrick actively practiced in State and Federal Courts in Washington representing manufacturers, retailers, real estate companies, government agencies, hospitals, clinics, religious organizations, nonprofits, and individuals. In that time, he tried 70+ jury trials and over 100 bench trials to verdict. His more significant trials involved cases encompassing catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, insurance coverage, bad faith, and copyright infringement. He also represented plaintiffs in commercial disputes and personal injury matters and has significant experience in class actions and consumer claims.
Before joining WAMS, Mr. Merrick served as a neutral in contractual and court-mandated arbitrations.
Mr. Merrick is a frequent speaker and author on a variety of topics in litigation and wrote Chapters 8 and 9 of the Washington Civil Procedure Deskbook (WSBA).
